Nature Connects Us

Who knew starting a small backyard plant pop up shop would turn into this constant source of feel good moments for this nature lover?
Nature did. Nature always knows what is good for our souls, we just need to be open to receiving it. And so I have.
For me gardening has not only been an outlet for me to connect to nature, but to some pretty amazing humans as well. I am convinced that people who dig in the dirt for fun, with the intent to care for a plant tend to be really wonderful people. And while selling plants I have divided from my garden is hardly lucrative, okay let’s be honest it costs me more money in supplies, the people I have met are definitely worth the investment. Each visitor has a story or a goal or a curiosity and together, we let nature connect us by sharing our experiences in the garden.
Simply asking my online community for donations of used pots for my newly dug and divided perennials turned into me meeting several new people I can now call gardening friends. One of my favorite examples of this is one such stranger that after dropping her pot donations off at my house, ended up in my milkweed patch offering some much welcomed advice. Even better is when she then agreed to speak about her experience raising Monarchs at a recent Luv it Outside Garden Gathering. At that same event, one plant customer who is just a joy every time she visits, asked to bring a friend. That same friend later realized we had crossed paths before, although not in person, when she donated pots by leaving them by her driveway for me months ago. Nature brining us together, like it does so often, in so many small but impactful ways. Thankfully, nature doesn’t care about race, religion, gender, age, titles, education, training or skill, but instead provides countless ways to us to find common ground through connecting to nature. So take that negativity, there is no room for you to grow here! (Okay off the soapbox and back into the garden!)
And while this may not seem grand enough for a purpose driven life, it sort of has become that for me. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to take a leap of faith to embrace my obsession with nature and I took it. Rooted in gardening years ago, but now on a broader scale, Luv it Outside has become my passion project fueled by gratitude hoping to inspire people to get outside, to connect to nature and notice more.
