Nature Connects Us
Who knew starting a small backyard plant pop up shop would turn into this constant source of feel good moments for this nature lover? Nature did. Nature always knows what is good for our souls, we just need to be open to receiving it. And so I have. For me gardening has not only been an outlet for me to connect to nature, but to some pretty amazing humans as well. I am convinced that people who dig in the dirt for fun, with the intent to care for a plant tend to be really won

Noticing Beauty in Nature Makes the World More Beautiful, Symbolism in Nature
Trail Moments-Fall Equinox Edition: Anyone else feeling this year’s fall equinox and seasonal transition a little deeper than usual this week? Perhaps when things outwardly seem chaotic, is when I feel drawn to nature most, to reflect on all I have to be grateful for, to reset my perspective and recharge my spirit. Hitting multiple trails, visiting several lakes, creeks, ponds and streams, and digging in the dirt have all helped me embrace this season of change. For in nature

National Mushroom Day
Wait it’s #nationalmushroomday? Say it isn’t so! Just one day to celebrate so many mushroom moments, however will I choose which ones to show? Winter texture void color, dormancy rest

From the hydrangea petals that shed a crystal clear ice replica with grooves matching the petal veins to the bubbly vein-like designs inside icicles clinging to surfaces both nature and man made, each is a fleeting sight to see. Winter’s dormancy can be a chall

Spring Nurtured by Nature
How fortunate am I that time in nature feels like medicine for the soul? Even a simple, spontaneous hike along one of my favorite trails, getting lost in the magic of spring emerging in the woods, does wonders for my mental health. It’s where time stops, the chaos of the outside world ceases and nature’s rhythm and flow permeate my core, my breath slows, my mind rests, and my spirit awakens as the tiniest of details elate. The forest awakening as the weather warms is filled w

Community in nature, tales from the trail, more alike than different
Nature does it again, takes the worry of the world and puts it on hold, just long enough to soothe the soul. Credit this time goes to a simple trail with the power to unite people from all walks of life, and let’s be honest none of us even know what each other’s walks of life are as we pass each other on the trail. Therein lies the magic, it doesn’t matter, we still all seek to make eye contact with one another to share a smile or friendly hello. Adding a dog into the mix amp

The inner call to the outdoors
I am always grateful for a Nature Nudge moment. While sometimes subtle, these moments connecting to nature provide shifts in perspective to help calm the noise, both internal and external.
